Vilnius city tour
2011 11 08

Nowadays Vilnius is a modern European city; a political, economical, cultural and educational centre of the Republic. The Old Town of Vilnius is one of the biggest and oldest in Eastern Europe. The magic atmosphere and the magnificent architectural blend of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism styles make this a wonderful city to explore. In 1994 Vilnius Old Town was included into UNESCO World Heritage List. In the Old Town, on the Castle hill, there stands Gediminas Tower – a remaining part of the castle which, according to the legend, was built after Grand Duke Gediminas had a dream of an iron wolf howling on that hill. This is how in year 1323 the history of Vilnius started.
