The Television Tower is one of the tallest buildings in Eastern Europe. A photography exhibition devoted to one of the country’s biggest fights for independence on January 13, 1991 is displayed on the ground floor. There is a spectacular observaton platform at the height of 165 metres.

A colourful and lively island separated from the city by the Vilnia River, Uzupis is a recognised district for artists and it has won the name of the most mysterious and romantic district in Vilnius. Uzupis is the artists’ “Republic”, which has its own constitution, national anthem, calendar and map. Uzupis has its honorary citizens, such as His Holiness the Dalai Lama; President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus; artist Jonas Mekas and many others.

The Park of Europe was founded in 1991 by Lithuanian sculptor Gintaras Karosas. The park spans an area of 55 hectares and is visited by over 60,000 people annually. Its goal is to give an artistic significance to the geographic centre of the European continent (as determined by the French National Geographic Institute in 1989) and to present best Lithuanian and International modern art achievements.
