Health Resorts
Druskininkai is a health
resort town with facilities for balneotherapy and mud. It is situated in
southern Lithuania, on the right bank of the Nemunas River. The
architecture of the town is shaped by nature itself surrounded by pine
forests and picturesque valleys of the Nemunas River, its tributary the
Ratnyčia River and the Lake Druskonis right in the centre of town.
The inhabitants of
Druskininkai used the mineral waters as curative in the 17th century.
Druskininkai was officially declared as a health resort town in 1794.
Today there are eight sanatoria and a balneotherapy centre. At this spa
one can treat: gastrointestinal, cardiac and blood vessel, motor and
support systems and nervous system diseases.

Birstonas Birstonas
is a resort town in central Lithuania on the loop of the Nemunas River.
This beautiful natural enclave was urbanised with utmost care. It is
suitable for therapy and recreation all year round. Curative peat and
mineral water is used in treating chronic diseases of peripheral nervous
system, gastrointestinal, respiratory and blood circulation systems. The
first patients were treated in Birstonas as early as 1840.
The spa waters "Birute" and
"Vytautas" are of great use for treatment and is widely provided
by Lithuanian retailers.
